Preschool / Elementary

Sunday School meets from 9:00 to 10:00 am on Sunday mornings, from September 10th through May 20th.

Our Sunday School curriculum is “Spark: Activate Faith! Lectionary” for children in preschool through 5th grade (children must be at least 3 years old by September 1st).

Why Spark Lectionary?

  • Lectionary-based: Sunday School lessons connect kids with Bible stories heard in worship each week.
  • Age-appropriate materials: lessons are grouped in age brackets (Preschool, K/1st Grade, 2nd /3rd Grade, and 4th /5th Grade)
  • Proven performance: SparkHouse’s most established Sunday School option, widely used and celebrated by many congregations.
  • Exceptional extras: provides children’s worship bulletins, music, additional activities, and more!
  • SparkHouse Online: Teachers can access leader guides, extra activities, lesson prep videos, sample student leaflets, etc. (all of which can be accessed by computer, tablet and smart phone)! Lessons are easy to follow and involve very little preparation!

How it Works:

A three-year curriculum with lessons that correspond to the Revised Common Lectionary. Every lesson has four parts: Gather, Open the Bible, Activate Faith, and Send.

Bible discovery and exploration is the focus of program and is integrated in every lesson and age group. Preschoolers through 1st graders use the Spark Story Bible, which invites kids into the story through colorful artwork and vivid storytelling. Kids in 2nd through 5th grade use the Spark Bible NRSV to dig deep into biblical texts and start a journey through God’s Word that can last a lifetime! Kids can bring their own Spark Bibles to class, or use extra copies we have at St. Timothy.

Lively, age-appropriate activities – such as games, crafts, or creative play – accommodate all ways that kids learn. Each week, kids and their teachers gather together to explore their Bibles, enjoy fun activities, pray, and grow in faith.

LOGOS (Loving Our God Our Savior) — 3rd – 5th Grade

Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. (Sept – May)

St. Timothy Lutheran Church LOGOS Program

LOGOS is a program for 3rd through 5th graders that meets Wednesday evenings from September 13th thru May 23rd.

The LOGOS curriculum is Whirl Lectionary, which is based on the church calendar and connects the children’s lessons to the lessons used in worship each week.

Each program night has three components:

Large Group Opening, introducing the Bible verses/stories, tracking our position in the church year, and watching an animated DVD clip on the big screen, preparing their hearts and minds for Bible Study. The animated characters model what it’s like for kids to go through the questions and challenges of living out their faith.

Small Group Bible Study, diving into the NRSV Bible using lively, engaging, and mind-challenging activities

“REC” time as a large group where kids will play fun and active games that tie into the bible theme of the evening.

Volunteer leaders are needed to help lead the small group Bible Studies as well as the REC portion of LOGOS. Leaders will be given access to SparkHouse Online, which will have leader guides, extra activities, lesson prep videos, sample student leaflets, and more (all of which can be accessed by computer, tablet or smart phone)! Lessons are easy to follow and involve very little preparation!
